Powerhouse Wins UFC II NIT

Powerhouse competed in the Ultimate Florida Championship (UFC) II NIT this past weekend.  This was an important event as it was both an NIT and double points weekend.

Powerhouse started slowly on Saturday afternoon, losing their first pool play game to the South Lakeland Flying Tigers 9-3.  They rebounded during the second pool game, winning 8-5 over Brevard Thunder.

Powerhouse started their Sunday at 9 am against the hometown Fishhawk Wolves.  This game was also featured on Utrip-TV at http://www.floridautrip.com/.  Powerhouse started slow, giving up 4 runs in the top of the first, but rallied back to score 4 in the bottom half of the first.  With the bats coming alive, Powerhouse went on to a 13-9 victory in 5 innings.

Powerhouse then faced the South Florida Swamp Rats in the semi-final game.  Powerhouse had previously beaten the Swamp Rats in their only other match-up which occured in the 10U Global World Series last year.  Powerhouse came out strong and cruised to a 13-4 victory.

In the Championship game, Powerhouse faced the Central Florida Crushers.  Again, Powerhouse bats were alive and well during this game, including two bombs from slugger Ty Hoyle in the same inning!  Even better, one was a grand slam.  It only took 3.5 innings for the Powerhouse to run-rule the Crushers 15-7 in this decisive victory.

Every single Powerhouse player did a great job this weekend and should be proud of all their efforts!

For their win, Powerhouse players will be receiving batting jackets from Tyja Sports as part of the award package for this event.
